- Calculate your area dimensions.
- For rectangular areas, measure the length and width in feet with a measuring wheel. If you don’t have access to one, you can pace it off. One pace is approximately 3 feet.
- For circular areas, measure the rectangle around the area. Multiply the length and width to get the total square footage. Subtract square footage of flower beds and shady areas where sod will not grow from the total area.
